Memo of the meeting concerning the TV system of PITZ on Janury 25 2011 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Participants: J.Baehr, M.Gross,Y .Ivanisenko, M.Mahgoub, J.Meissner, A.Oppelt, S.Rimjaem, G.Vashchenko,S.Weisse, (G.Asova: absent) The goal was to give a introduction to Matthias Gross concerning the PITZ TV-system and to discuss an old to-do-list of TV items to clarify what is done and what is still wanted. - camera book-keeping and database: works, effort mainly by Axel Hagedorn and Grigorij Vashchenko, unify information (xls-book, data base, ...) - extensive SNR analysis and optical information theory (DQE,NEP): not done up to now, topic is mainly noise due to temperatue ==> cooling (at least at beamlet stations) - camera cooling: up to now only VC2; not needed for Prosilica, in principle wanted for JAI, improves clearly noise, but our cameras are not suitable and it is expensive, but longer lifetime of cameras is expected; recommendation: buy one camera and test it - development of new TV optics, to be done mainly for the matching of new camera type, GV (?) has started calculations - remote controlled filter wheels (neutral grey filters): should be installed in all high energy section screens; may also become necessary for long bunch trains (HEDA2); conclusion: a development should be started; - improved shielding against stray light (tapered tubes): at several places realised, at several places not necessary. YI will make a list, where it is still necessary (input of Galina necessary). - TV tomography: TV system fully mounted, all screens but PSTScr1OTR are aligned and calibrated (PSTScr1OTR is not used until now) - TV Heda2: Sakhorn prepares specs with input based on R&D by MM; as far as possible DISP2.Scr1 and DISP3.Scr1 should be similar - Camera choice done: yes, test in lab finished, installed now at HIGH1.Scr3 for beam tests; order few afterwards for EMSY, DN stations, maybe DISP (if MAMA can handle the high resolution) - additional lenses, changed magnifications: realized at HIGH1.Scr4; further changes proposed for new JAI camera, mainly for beamlet analysis (i.e. Dirk-Naumann stations) and ...? - HEDA1 switching optics: done today for implementation of "Scheinpflug"- condition, to be clarified whether a switching optics system with several lenses was already developed - systematic improvement of TV optics, a few high quality systems (super system with better resolution / power than others): to be further discussed. - tuning of the brightness of LED elements like ring lamps and TV grids: the technical possibility is prepared, but not necessary up to now for TV, only for all streak resolution grids (4 conus boxes). - brown lenses: baking to be prepared; Investigate: can other material (quartz) be used ? Laser cleaning ? - necessary: roadmap to exchange stepwise analog (old JAI) cameras by digital cameras (Prosilica ?) in ~2012; steps could be: a) after successful tests of JAI BM141 order some of this new type b) replace Prosilicas, e.g. at EMSYs, DN stations, DISPs with JAI BM141 c) use freed Prosilicas to replace old JAI d) if wished / necessary, all Prosilicas can be replaced >2012 - no further open points on the list of JM - the use of a ticketing system for trouble shouting at PITZ should furthermore be discussed, especially also for the TV system - SW offers the possibility of tests of CCD cameras under radiation conditions (at GSI Darmstadt) - There is a request for an instruction for fast and proper adjustment of TV systems 7 Feb. 2011 Juergen Baehr 8 Feb. 2011 Anne Oppelt 9 Feb. 2011 Galina Asova 10 Feb. 2011 Anne Oppelt
